Video: Arjan Chats with Natalia Kills

Interscope's Cherrytree Records is one of the finest curators of new pop talent. After bringing us artists like Lady Gaga, La Roux, Feist and Robyn, the label is now introducing us to talented British singer Natalia Kills in partnership with will.i.am who first discovered her.

Natalia has been building a steady buzz with her stylish Love Kills video series on YouTube, which features music from her debut LP, titled "Perfectionist," which will be released soon.

Written by Natalia and influenced by the dark pop style of artists like Depeche Mode, Kate Bush and Prince, "Perfectionist" was helmed by star producers including Jeff Bhasker (Kanye West, Alicia Keys), Akon (Gwen Stefani, Nelly), Martin "Cherry Cherry Boom Boom" Kierszenbaum (Lady Gaga, t.A.T.u.) and Fernando Garibay (Britney Spears, Lady Gaga).

I recently caught up with Natalia from her home in Los Angeles to chat about all of her upcoming projects. She has been a busy bee and we had a lot of ground to cover. I zoomed in on her surprise meeting with will.i.am who spotted her talent and introduced her to the Interscope family.

We also talked at length about the the idea and vision behind her debut LP that will be released in conjunction with a full-length movie, The Exhibitionist. Natalia also introduces us her dog Dracula around the 2:25 minute mark (so cute!).

Natalia Kills not only serves up a collection of hook-laden pop tunes, but she also successfully incorporates a razorsharp vision, an uncompromising conviction and a powerful edge to her music, which is not only refreshing but also makes her stand out from the pop pack.  Make sure to catch Natalia Kills opening for Robyn in the U.S. this fall. (Thanks Natalia for making time to chat!)
