Free MP3 Download: Dragonette "Pick Up The Phone" (Beaumont Remix)
Dragonette's "Pick Up The Phone" echoes a feeling that I'm sure we all can relate to in one way or another. The song is about that time growing up when you feel that you can conquer the world. Everything is possible and nothing stands in your way. The track's title is like a wake up call to make this happen.
"Were going places you've never dreamed of," Martina sings, pointing to that timeless sentiment that the future is wide open and right in front of you to grab. The group's Dan Kurtz told me in our video interview that he hammered out the melody in minutes and that singer Martina put together the lyrics quickly after.
Listen to the new downtempo Beaumont remix of "Pick Up The Phone" that beautifully captures the nostalgia and eager sentiment of the song. This remix has been floating around the internet for a while, but I love to give it some more attention to highlight Dragonette. Digging the '80s-style synth flourishes that intensify the retro qualities of the original. "Pick Up The Phone" should be on the top of the charts everywhere. It's so good.
