The guys from Micofilm have been making forward-thinking dance and electronica music for years. I first blogged about the duo of Matt Keppel (vocals) and Matthew Mercer (synths) in 2006 when they released "Sex Education." Since then, the group has continued to put out electronic music that ranges from dark, experimental pieces to more dance floor-oriented numbers.

Their latest effort, titled "Blips Don't Lie," is one of the poppier kind that is more easily accessible to listeners and made for the dance floor. The release is presented as a 6-track "triple A-side single" that includes collaborations with Scissor Sisters' guitars Del Marquis, England’s Black Box Recorder vocalist Sarah Nixey and newcomer Kylie Minimoog.

One of the stand out tracks on this super-charged synth-pop single is Microfilm's teaming with Del Marquis on "I'll Sing Like Billy MacKenzie In Heaven," a fitting homage to late Associates frontman Billy MacKenzie. Supported by a tight dance beat with laser-like synth flourishes, Del's bouncy guitar riff tells this song's story. You wouldn't immediately think that guitars mix all that well with dance floor-ready electronica, but the savvy guys of Microfilm make Del shine. Kudos for that killer cover art too. Karma confetti.
