Brandon Flowers in Rolling Stone Magazine
The Killers' Brandon Flowers is featured in this week's issue of Rolling Stone magazine and talks candidly about touring, "Day & Age," Madonna, his love for the city of Memphis and the recording of a cover album.
Producer pal Stuart Price recently said that Brandon Flowers and Madonna share the same drive and determination. Flowers comments, "I never had anything very traumatic happen me, like Madonna [losing her mother] so I can't say anything like that. I don't know where it comes from, but I have a hunger. I thought everybody liked music the way I did, but I realized I was different when I was 17. I got jealous when I heard a New Order album. That was the turning point when I really started pursuing music. "
He also tells the magazine that he has been on a Fleetwood Mac kick recently, listening often to the band's classic LP "Rumours." He also explains that he has no interest in being an actor and rather sticks to music. Flowers believes most actors should probably stick to acting and not try to sing. "If you're an actor, you have no business making album, no matter how good you sound in the shower," he says. Lastly, he tells RS that he considers "Human" one of The Killers' strongest recordings to date, while "Spaceman" makes "his body do things that I've never done before."
It seems that the much-rumored cover album is not happening anytime soon. The band recorded a new version of "One Night In Bangkok" with Louis XIV and a cover of The Eagles' "Hotel California," but no other songs have been planned at this time.
