Listen to "Lhuna" by Coldplay feat. Kylie Minogue

What exactly were they thinking when they chose to record this track?

You can't accuse Kylie from stepping out of her comfort zone once in a blue moon (remember that duet with Nick Cave?), but this new duet with Coldplay takes it to a whole new level.

Eerie, dark and, quite franky, depressing,  "Lhuna" is by no means the happy-go-lucky, sleek pop music we have come to expect from Kylie. It also lacks the big, atmospheric sound that marks Coldplay's music.

So, I get back to the question - what were they thinking when they selected this track? Perhaps I should let it grow on me a bit longer. Play it again, and again, and again.

Hell I gave it 6 tries and it is just dreadful. All gloomy and electronic.Soulless and emotionless pap.All her music is so sterile and Coldplay failed to deliver a darn thing here.

It was recorded to raise funds on World Aids Day (yesterday), that's what they were thinking.

I don't think it's all that bad, frankly. It's quite an atmospheric, dreamy thing.

Yah .. can't say that the chemistry is explosive here. Oh well... they tried!

What stymies me is the fact that it was recorded to "raise funds for World AIDS Day", yet you can't buy it!! (At least, I can't seem to figure out how to do it at the (red)Wire site.)

I think the song is a kind of interesting experiment, by the way.

it's heavy, but not everything can be pop and froth. it's a nice departure for Kylie (who i adore) and something off the beaten path for Coldplay (who i enjoy).
i like it!

I really like it, i think its totally different for the both of them.

You would expect Kylie to make a very poppy track but it shows that Kylie can do Dark in a way you never expected from her!!!!.

We all have our opinion on the song but have u thought to think that Lhuna is probably Kylie?????

I know why they actually held on to it until they released it for RedWire, its too dark to be on any album, on Kylie's "X" and even on Viva La Vida.

Remember this collaboration was written around the times of her Cancer, talking about the Luna!!! which is also referenced to Stars which we all know Kylie loves the Stars!!!!.

Its very Pink Floyd like Comfortably Numb vibe which is great, definetly a great song.

I think the song is fantastic. Listen to it PROPERLY, taking everything in and it is truly lovely, very atmospheric, very clever and I must say hints of both Kylie and Coldplay. Well done to both!

Listen to it a while. It's a grower.
Now I love it.

Sure, it isn't as vibrant or as powerful as other Coldplay songs, but give it a go.

"We are dreaming... about Lhuna..."

Listen to it late at night. It sounds better then.

Who says every song has to be happy? Songs are about every emotion and quite frankly if you are going to comment on a song, understand the meaning behind it and have some objectivity. Artists who are stepping outside their comfort zone should be applauded for trying something different and displaying their talent in a way unlike their usual style. I love both Kylie and Coldplay and love that they are using this song for charity
