Video: Seven Questions for Jack Savoretti

Jack Savoretti is one of the most promising new talents to hit the music scene this year. Combining English charm with a melancholic Italian vibrato, Savoretti's serves up an acoustic blend of pop and folk on his debut album "Between The Minds." In many ways, his heartfelt tunes and storytelling is reminiscent of '70s singer/songwriters like Crosby, Stills & Nash and Simon & Garfunkel.

I recently caught up with Savoretti when he was in New York to perform at the CMJ Music Conference. We met up for a cup of coffee to talk about his new album at a West Village Starbucks. While chatting, we figured it was a good idea to get a few fun questions on video that I posted above.

Savoreti, who is half-English and half-Italian (and likes to call himself a "transatlantic mutt"), is currently signed to the De Angelis Records. The label was founded by Anne Barrett who previously managed Natalie Imbruglia. So far the success of Savoretti has happened quite organically. After touring with Corinne Bailey Ray, his music has been featured on CW's One Tree Hill and in the movie The Sisterhood of The Traveling Pants 2. He is currently touring with Gavin DeGraw in Europe.

AOL Music will be featuring Jack's "Between The Minds" as their Video of the Week on Wednesday, November 12.

Thanks for this interview -- Jack is the real deal, and his song "Dr. Frankenstein" literally changed my life... Everyone needs to check out BETWEEN THE MINDS -- it was my favorite album of 2007, and a 2-CD "Deluxe Edition" was released earlier this year. Hoping that I'll finally get to see him live sometime in '09...
