Berlin is one of my favorite places in the world. I visited the city two years ago with The Killers, and I was blown away by the city's forward-thinking architecture. The Germans have broken with their haunted past and have built a city that represents the future not the past. Strolling around the revamped Reichstag, Berlin Hauptbahnhof and the new Potzdammer Platz, I totally felt like I had stepped into the future. Very inspiring.

Electronica artist Alaska In Winter (aka Brandon Bethancourt) moved to Berlin earlier this year to record his sophomore album "Holiday." The sound on the LP is inspired by the city's avant-garde music scene. "It's heavily based on synths, basses, and dancier drums and with hints of minimal house elements creeping in ever so slightly," Bethancourt explains in a press release. Even within the album itself I can hear a progression of the Berlin electronic music scene influencing me more and more with the amount of time I spent here."

"Really, the Berlin techno party fun times and all night dance marathons were big inspirations for me."

Check out a guilt-free download of the song "Berlin" that is taken from "Holiday." It is a soothing synth pop tune with a throbbing bassline, glistening strings, creative use of the vocoder and Brandon's mesmerizing vocals. "Holiday" will be available in digital download stores on November 18.
