Hot New Talent Alert: The Cataracs

One of my Twitter pals pointed me to Westcoast newcomers The Cataracs who are hybrid between Chromeo, Lo-Fi-Fnk and Shwayze. Their music isa breezy brew of lo-fi electronica and pop that is totally fun and infectious.

The Cataracs are David Singer-Vine, 20 aka “Campa,” and Niles Hollowell-Dhar, 19, “Cyrano”. Both members share vocalist duties with Cyrano acting as the sole producer.  After nearly five years of developing their music and building a steady fan base in their hometown of Berkley, CA, 

The Cataracs are ready to take their local fame to a higher level. Check out the video for their new single "Julia" that was directed by 20 year-old Scott Tilley, a protégé of music video director Taj who has shot videos for Rihanna, NAS and LL Cool. It's an accomplished video for an emerging pop band that you should keep your eye on.
