Free Download: Keane "Spiralling" (Brand-New Track)
Keane is is gearing up for a major marketing push to promote their forthcoming new album, titled "Perfect Symmetry." As part of the album launch, they're giving away one of the album's track totally guilt-free. The song is called "Spiralling" and you can request it here. But hurry! It is only available for a limited-time only. I filled in the download request and I'm still waiting for the download link to be emailed to me, so I have no thoughts about this new song yet, but I wanted you to have the option to get it before expires.
Update: Wow. It's quite a new sound for them isn't it? This is first time I've heard them using these swirling, "spiralling" guitars in this particular way (it is somewhat similar to that frantic synthesized brew on "Is It Any Wonder."). That subtle pomping bassline that lingers throughout the song gives it a fun character.
I'm warming up to loving it.

Yea, Arjan... they used the exact same "guitar" sound on their last album. For someone who loved that album so much, figured you would've paid attention...

LOVE it! A shocker at first, I agree, but then it grows on you.

I liked it! Thanks, Arjan. BTW, I learned today that Keane's singer Tom Chaplin wrote a song for Annie Lennox which is going to be in her new best-of collection out on September 15.

Regarding a comment above - on the second album there were keyboards made to sound like guitars. I believe that on this record there are actual guitars (based on an interview with Jo Whiley yesterday). I thought Proper Villain would've oaid attention...

The next album does include guitars played by new member Jesse Quinn, but thiis song is just synthesised piano's> I'm a huge fan of keane and love 'spiralling'. It's different and a good direction to be heading in.

i don't know... i much prefer their piano-driven sound more than their guitar-driven sound; it was their signature. "hopes and fears" will always be one of my favourite albums of all time.
