Roisin Murphy Fan Interview: Submit Your Questions Now

A big red, alert for all Roisin Murphy fans!

I will be meeting up with Roisin later this week for an exclusive fan interview while she is visiting New York. I've chatted with her before and this second time around I'd like to give  fans the opportunity to query the singer

This is your chance to submit questions for Roisin about things you've always wanted to know about her music, performance, fashion and whatever else what comes to mind. Leave your questions in the Comments section. I will try to include as many questions as time permits and report back on ArjanWrites.com early next week.

UPDATE: Thanks for all your questions. I met with Roisin and will be posting the interview in the next 1-2 days.

Ask her what's going on with the "Movie Star" single. That's all I want to know, honestly.

OMG!!! Were there times Róisín had ever been frustrated with her label? and with the sudden disappearance of "Movie Star" promotion, has there been any hope for future singles (from Overpowered), or more promotion? Also, with Sophie Ellis-Bextor's version of "Off & On" available for listening, does Róisín think that SEB made the track better? Good luck with your interview Arjan!!! Let róisín know we all love her over at the forum, and we're always proud of her, and for her!

Will "Tell everybody" be released as a single? Best song on the album.

Posted by: amit at Jul 21, 2008 8:42:11 PM

sorry to post again, but this question doesn't necessarily need to be answered, but what is she saying in the background in You Know Me Better, during the chorus?

Posted by: Jeff Wood at Jul 21, 2008 9:50:03 PM

Um, ask her why she rules so much!

Or, if there is any slight chance at all, whatsoever, of any US performances. She has fans over here and not everyone has the comfort of flying abroad to catch a show.

Roisin, lets 'sing it back' to the 90's. Can you sum up the 90's in one sentence? Also, where was you clubbing in the 90's?

Posted by: Markus at Jul 22, 2008 7:23:32 AM

Roisin, I feel your tommorrows influence within music and fashion. Out of current music, who do you think will also be tommorrows influence?

Posted by: Markus at Jul 22, 2008 7:32:22 AM

Please ask her, nay TELL her, she needs to TOUR IN NORTH AMERICA ... ESPECIALLY TORONTO ..

actually, please ask her if she's planning on touring here soon?

Posted by: Mylo at Jul 22, 2008 8:28:31 AM

Please could you ask her....

How does she feel Overpowered as an album has done and how it has affected her as an Artist.

Also does she have any future plans ahead.

Thanks :) x

I would like to ask Roisin will there one day be a Moloko reunion?

Posted by: Mark at Jul 22, 2008 11:44:19 AM

Also, what latest music are you enjoying at the moment?

Posted by: Mark at Jul 22, 2008 11:49:30 AM

I would like to know if she has already an idea of what will be the next album. Her voice is so versatile that she could for example made a more traditional soul record, or a blues record, or a rock'n roll one...
And, ask her if she remember the day we've met in the streets of Luxembourg...

My question for Roisin is: Would she ever consider working with Mark Ronson?

Posted by: Filip at Jul 22, 2008 12:53:27 PM

I honestly have no idea what id want to ask but what is the coolest thing anyone has done for her? Or is that question too personal?

Posted by: Sakib at Jul 22, 2008 3:47:19 PM

roisin-why did you ditch the cathy dennis/calvin harris songs from the album sessions ?
i know that you are a true artist...but never enough could have been a #1...
you are truly an amazing talent.
too mainstream ? babe ! you could never be mainstream !!! please release the dennis/harris songs as b-sides !
oh !!!! and please record yo' own version of grace jones's -slave to the rhythm !!!

A lot has been said before about the song 'Off & On' written for you by Calvin Harris & Cathy Dennis and the fact that it didn't make it onto the 'Overpowered' album, so how do you feel about Sophie Ellis Bextor recording it as the first single from her new album? Do you see it as a song being recycled and therefore a sign that people see music these days as more disposable than it ever has been?

Also, at the time when your version leaked to the internet, it seemed fresh and had a new sound to it. But since then Calvin Harris has gone on to have big hits on his own and with artists such as Kylie Minogue and Dizzee Rascal. I've always thought of you as something different, not just making run of the mill pop music. So was this part of the reason you rejected it? It was too commercial?

Posted by: Craig at Jul 22, 2008 6:07:52 PM

I'd love to to ask her how her songs are born. What comes first? The music, the lyrics or an idea of a melody?

Posted by: Kriszti at Jul 23, 2008 1:32:39 AM

I always must ask the fashion questions! I'd like to know who are some of her style and music icons. I believe Grace Jones is one? And what designers/fashion houses does she love? Also, where would she like to take her music next...what mood or genre? (And I love her!!!)

Posted by: Adi at Jul 23, 2008 5:13:13 AM

Please ask Roisin if was she born fabulous or is it something she had to learn! And also if she would ever consider covering any of Grace Jones music - it would be amazing to hear her sing Warm Leatherette or Slave To The Rhythm

Where did she go in her clubbing days, when she was living in Yorkshire? Did she ever go to Vague or Speedqueen at the Warehouse in Leeds? It's closed now but it was my favourite club ever- very glam I can imagine her going.

Posted by: Ben Elliott at Jul 23, 2008 9:06:59 AM

Hi Roisin lots of love x

Have you started writing any new songs yet ?

What clubs are you going to check out while in NYC ?

What do you do to relax ?

And what type of music do you put on to chillout to ?

What is your favorite type of holiday ?

Do you feet ever hurt after all your gigs dancing in high heels ?

Do you beleive in love at first sight ?

Do you find fame and success easy to deal with in your life ?

What book are reading right now ?

Do you ever google or youtube your name ?

What things do you miss apart from charlie chips when you are touring ?

What motivates you ?

ps would you like a spare boyfriend ? =]

Posted by: Charlie Chips at Jul 23, 2008 2:29:20 PM

1.How does she create her songs?

2.Does she likes to play any instrument?

3.Is charlie (her dog) fine?

4.WHEN is she going on vacations to give her a rest? i'm worried of she getting sick!

Just want to THANK HER for touring all around with such that great and nice energy, doing a music that makes you feel and dance living unforgettable moments.
She's doing a lot of work so it's very kind to find her dancing like a fool on every stage and taking care of her fans.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your passion on everything you do, keep pusshing!

Spain loves Róisín Murphy!

Roisin, How long did it take you to knit that Jumper on the 'overpowered' album cover?

Posted by: Markus at Jul 24, 2008 12:30:42 AM

Pints or half pints?

Posted by: Natasha at Jul 24, 2008 5:28:39 AM

As albums go, Overpowered was quite different from Ruby Blue. What were your inspirations for these projects, and who are your all-time biggest musical inspirations?
