Hot New Talent Alert: Vassy
Does the world need another Amy Winehouse clone? In the case of newcomer Vassy the answer is a definite and loud yes. Vassy bring the same spunky spirit, but a unique style of her own.
Check out this candid video that DJ Richard Vission recorded in his studio earlier today. Vassy holds on to the mic and let those raw vocals flow all the way up from her toes. She's a chiller. Keep your eye on here.
Her music has previously been featured on Grey's Anatomy and Ugly Betty. If you like what you hear, make sure to check out the song "Falling Down" on her MySpace page. That particular track mixes up her old school soul with some modern day funk that is reminiscent of Nikki Costa.

I prefer Nikka Costa particular funkalicious attitude. By the way, Nikka new album will be release in September! And her new tunes really ROCKS!

Just an FYI, she isn't new. She released an album "My Affection" in the US in August of 2007.
It's quite good too!

I had the pleasure of meeting Vassy, as part of my promotional job in Melbourne, Australia. She's one talented singer with a booming voice!
She opened for John Legend when he toured here last year. And got a very warm reception from the crowd.
Her album "My Affection" was recorded all across the world, and her single "Wanna Fly" made headlines here. Yes, I heard she moved to NY to pursue the American market, so not technically "new", its good to see her making waves over there.
