Sticky & Sweet

Arjanwrites_hardcandy

A press promo copy of Madonna's "Hard Candy" is leaking all over the mighty internets, and we can all breathe a sigh of relief.

I was pleasantly surprised by a lot of the songs on this promo disc. It is sounding a lot more polished and amped up than the demo tracks that circulated a few months ago. Especially, Pharrell Williams is rebounding and showing off his geniosity on tracks like "Incredible" (love, love that swirling synth riff), the pulsating bounce of "Heartbeats" and the enhanced version of "Beat Goes On" that sounds much better than the demo that leaked last fall.

I'm really warming up this new futuristic pop R&B sound and I find it quite frankly a lot more interesting than many of the tracks on "Confession On A Dancefloor." But then again, I'm a huge Pharrell fan so I know I'll be in for a sweet treat. Looking forward to hearing the entire record.  (Click here to pre-order your copy of "Hard Candy" on Amazon.com.)

This album is awful. I really think you should listen carefully. She can't make the high notes and the sound is so dated.

This album is going to be big. It kinda sprawls- it's soo relaxed sounding- it makes CONFESSIONS sound like a video game.

This is the most fun Madonna's been on record in a long, long time. This is the soundtrack for a fun summer!

Not the car-crash I was expecting, but not a classic album. I'd rank it around 'American Life' as a whole album, but some of the tracks are good.

I can't believe she allowed Kanye to rap about being brought it to keep Madonna 'fresh'!

Meh. This isn't in the same league as "Confession" by a long shot. It is, however, miles better than the mess that was "American Life".

Of the tracks I've heard so far, its horrible. I don't see myself buying this album. I think its only for the fans who buy everything she'll release.

Maybe with one final album in the contract with Warner, she just didn't care. I really think she'll be laughing at everyone who buys this water-thin album and loves it. I think she's playing a joke on the fans.

Anyone who calls the American Life album hasn't actually listened to it. It is fantastic.

As usual, except for 3 albums, HARD CADY works by listening over and over again. Some pieces as Heartbeat (song that i love) or Miles Away or She s not me are by far the best of the abum. Even though the songs remain me another artist such as Pet Shop Boys (paninaro 95) or even Justin Timberlake´s Cry me a river ( "devil won´t..." Love this song but i must admit is a very look-a-like from Justin´s hit).

On the other hand, I must admit the lyrics are a little more mature, and she seemed to avoid the usual clishes that repeat in the mayority of the albums.

As a fan of her, Hard Candy likes me, doesn´t blow me away, but it sounds fresh new and interesting.

As usual "chappeau" for the lady in charge. She don´t have rivals.

I agree that American Life is highly under-rated. I have to laugh when I read reviews of any sort...it would seem we are all so fickle that nothing is ever good enough. FORGET ABOUT'EM and JUST ENJOY!

I agree wrt American Life, I ordered it off itunes when drunk one night...and it turns out I love it. Very cohesive alum. Mother and Father is my favourite track.

American life is the best madonna album ever and despite the very good athmosphere of COTDF the latter is a bit overestimated since every song from number 5 to the end is a bit weak...
As for "hard Candy" its very good from A to Z (despite the fact that some titles sound like Justin materials) nearly 7 titles stand out and could be released as singles...whereas H.C was introduced as a urban comeback, the album is more a tribute to funk and disco...don't read what the jealous says and listen to the music...
