Did I Miss Anything Good?

Daftpunk_backstage_grammy

I'm still out of the country and unfortunately had to miss the Grammy Awards last night. If you had to miss it as well (or want a summary) head over here to get 60 second recap of the show.

I received a bunch of press releases this morning boasting different performances, including a "surprise performance" of Daft Punk (in LED suits) with Kanye West that marked "Daft Punk's first-ever TV performance in their 14 year history."

What else did I miss last night? Anything good? Anything really bad?

Amy Winehouse and Tina Turner performances were the ones that really up the ante more than anything, too bad Beyonce sounded like a backup singer for Tina, but hey!, is Tina, she's powerful and maybe Beyonce can catch a couple of tips from that Lady...

I only watched the first half, but what I saw was great. the show was very classy, i thought, and i loved the alicia keys/frank sinatra opener, the tribute to the beatles, and the rihanna/the time duet, as strange as it was. Also i don't like carrie underwood (it is left-over disdain from her performances on American Idol), but she did look gorgeous.
Tonight i'll have to check to see what i missed!

Tina Turner was introduced as the Queen and the Queen of the Night she was!

Daft Punk's performance was embarrassing, to say the least. You could be there doing what they did (which was nothing, because they had a playback and didn't remix anything live - they just pretended to be doing something)... Tina Turner was great alone, but when Beyoncé entered the stage, it seems TT lost her energy and the performance of Proud Mary could be more like Breathless Mary.

The Grammys aren't what they used to be; surprise appearances, fantastic live performances. This years show was nothing short of a snooze-fest. Yes, I actually fell asleep! The high point of the night was Vince Gill's acceptance speech, which lasted less than 1 minute. That about says it all!

Believe it or not, even with the mishaps; and they've been accurately reported by you other commenters already-this was still the best Grammy Show in about 10 years if not even more. Watch it when you get home and you'll agree.

Only watched it to see Cyndi Lauper present. Very happy for Amy!! Rest of the show was Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, you didn't miss anything. Beyonce's intro to Tina Turner made me want to rip my own eyes out of my head.

I think it was really good, Tina Turner, Alicia Keys, The Beatles Tribute, Kanye & Daft Punk, Amy Winehouse, excellent!

But i guess people wants to see Nsync and Britney.

best grammy moment...tie between amy winehouse's expressionless shock when she was announced the recipient of record of the year (synaptic misfire perhaps from all those drugs?) & cher's appearance to introduce "friend" tina turner.
