Chester French Reveal SXSW Plans
Need. To be. There.
Chester French have revealed their plans for the annual South By Southwest Music Conference that will be held next month in Austin, TX. D.A. and Max write on their blog that they will play three (!) showcases at the festival, "March 10th, we're playing at the Facebook party. On the 12th, we're playing at the Volume show and on the 15th we'll be blowing up the stage at the Perez Hilton party." They add that there might be one or two additional shows.
The ball is finally rolling for these two fellas from Harvard.
In related news, the guys are looking for songs to "chesterize." Do you have any suggestions for songs they can revamp and give a snazzy Chester French makeover? Let them know on MySpace or leave a comment below.
Here are three of my picks:
The Beatles "I Saw Her Standing There"
D.A. and Max told me they are inspired by good ole' pop bands such as The Beatles and The Beach Boys. Shining in simplicity, Lennon and McCartney's "I Saw Her Standing There" is such an evergreen and I'd be curious to hear Chester French give it their own twist.
Weezer "Buddy Holly"
Chester French are melody makers
in pop's purest sense. Clever, catchy and authentic. The happy-go-lucky "Buddy Holly" is right up their ally.
Scissor Sisters "Take Your Mama"
Totally random and totally risky. It could work. The best covers are the ones you don't expect. Like Keane recording Destiny's Child "Bootylicious." Get your Jake Shears on, guys.
Turn it out!
