You Must Listen to Anouk's New Single "Good God"

Anouk might finally giving it another try in the States

The spunky singer, now 32, is by far one of The Netherlands' most talented and authentic rock artists who has built an impressive career in her home country over the last decade. She had a modest hit in the U.S. back in 1996 with that raging bitch slap tune "Noboby's Wife." But as her exposure grew, the uncompromising singer felt pressured by her label to take on an image she wasn't comfortable with.

Staying true to her self and her artistic ambitions, Anouk packed her bags and went back to Holland to become a huge star in a tiny music market. She released 7 albums and countless singles many of which were awarded with MTV Europe and TMF trophies.

Earlier this year, Anouk traveled to Los Angeles to work with none other than writer/producer Glen Ballard on new album material. In between Ballard's recording sessions with Annie Lennox, they wrote and produced the singer's upcoming new album "Who's Your Momma."

In a must-watch video interview, Ballards boasts about the incredible talent of Anouk. "What you look for in a singer is some kind of distinctive fingerprint," he says. "Anouk has it (. . .) It is greater than the sum of its parts (. . .) She is an authentic artist who is really in touch with her own muse."

Inspired by the grand soul and blues of the '60s. "Good God" is a rocking tune with a stomping horn section that shows off Anouk's extraordinary, raw to the bone vocal range. The song's nostalgic sonics blast a gaping hole in the Wall of Sound and give Phil Spector's invention a whole new meaning.
