30 Seconds To Mars Covers Kanye West
Jared Leto and his pals performed an alt-rock cover of Kanye West's smash "Stronger" on Jo Whiley's BBC Radio One show this past weekend. Listen to it to right here. I much prefer West's punchy and colorful original but this one sure is epic.
Who could have predicted that "Stronger" would become such a monster of a hit that now inspires pop-loving gays, television stars and rock bands? I was checking the global charts today and Kanye is hitting the top spot everywhere it seems.

OK, here's my opinion, for what it's worth...
This song, performed by Jared & Co, is so much more emotional, compelling, and (forgive me for being a girl...) sexy!
Jareds voice fits it so well, and it's a great showcase for his vocals.
I never gave Kanye's version any time, but this 30STM version is now a firm favourite.

I think it comes across as a brilliant cover. What's the point in making a cover if you make it sound exactly like the original? That said, I do prefer the 30 Seconds To Mars cover over the original. Kanye West was never really my cup of tea, to be honest I don't care for the original at all.
Stronger in the 30STM version has been playing non-stop on my ipod, my car stereo and my laptop since I first heard it. Jareds Letos voice and the whole arrangement of the cover makes it an amazing experience.

I agree, who would like a cover exactly like the original? it would be pointless and you might aswell just like the original.
I dont care about Kanye West, I never liked him and 30STM rock, their versoin is 10000 times better then the orignal!

LoL a few 30STM fan comments here.
Well I don't care much for most rap music but even before 30 did the cover I saw the song as a bit of an exception, I think both versions are really good.
And I agree with that said above that a cover should be different to the original, because it's all about interpretation, and 30 does that very well =)

The 30 Seconds to Mars cover is 1 million times better sure you could dance to Kanyes but 30 Seconds to Mars' version had more feeling to it,plus they are 10 million times better than Kanye.

I love the version that 30 Seconds to Mars does of Stronger. Jareds voice is amazing and he puts passion in the song! You can truly relate to the song with 30 STM's version. Kanye's version is ok but he shows no passion in it.

30 seconds to mars is amazing & so was their cover for stronger.
you must be a communist if you prefer the version done by a man who thinks the president doesn't care about black ppl.

I am a huge fan of Jared and 30 seconds to mars ..
calling them "emo" just shows your own ignorance .
Maybe you should listen to it again..
Listen to the passion ..listen to the remarkable voice.Jared and the boys did this song like no one else could do it.It is creative..and done very well.
Understandable it is a different genre of music than the song was done in before, and those that like that version, understandably may think it is a little too different for their tastes.
Well..I have a challenge for you..
Try to step OUT of the box.
Open your mind.
Listen to the performance for what it was.
which was amazing.
At the VERY least well done.

I like the version Kanye West made. He's a great musician. But I really think the version of 30 Seconds to Mars beats his!! By miles!! Their version is so pure, made with so much passion. I love it!! And U don't have to like it just because I say it's great. But don't trash something just because it's not your taste!

Here we go again ,what the F*** is EMO? It seems anthing YOU dont understand....which i'm happy about, or i'd think the intelligence level of 30 Seconds to Mars fans was declining. This is a brilliant cover of a dull and boring original.Piewack.U.K.Echelon

they are amazing...i think that they have earned their status and they can cover any song they want! if you don't think so, then why even care, don't listen then.

OMG OMG OMG I really love it.
This cover is amazing. It´s like a drug and Jared´s voice is perfect. I love these guys and this cover si better than the original one ;)

it's a very sexy song i love this version you can relly connect to it in a way you can't with the rap version.
however I wonder if this version would have gotten this much attention if Jared and Co had written it first.
Posted by: Manda at Sep 19, 2007 4:33:44 PM
i completly agree w suze 30s rendition of this song was incredible and inspiring.
Posted by: valeto at Sep 19, 2007 4:37:11 PM
Honestly, we couldn't care if you liked it or not. It's your own fuckin opinion so keep it to yourself. Besides, if you didn't like it why would you bother making a blog about it? yeah, exactly so go get a life off the computer.
Posted by: J.L at Sep 20, 2007 12:51:17 AM
Jared Leto brought ardor, or passion, to this song that Kanye West could not.
For everyone that said it prior, they are right, it is a COVER ladies and gentlemen, it is SUPPOSED to be different. In my opinion it is better. Besides, it's a cover of a cover. How much alike do you want it to be?
You don't like it? Fine. We all accept that.
Don't criticize it like it's the worst thing to happen to music.
Fuck all the non-believers.
