The Glen Ballard-produced "Dark Road" is the haunting opening song of her new album "Songs Of Mass Destruction" that will be out on October 2. If Annie sings, she makes you feel it. That picture of Annie is a brand-new press photo. So glam! Doesn't she look amazing?

As with most Annie Lennox (and indeed Eurythmics) records,this takes a few listens before it makes a firm impression but,once it does, it's no mistake..it's a genuine,goose-bump giving journey of a song! As for the photo....she could easily pass for a woman in her late 20's. xxxx

This song made me immediately put on Eurythmics 1984 soundtrack. Why does she do this middle of the road stuff? Get M.I.A. to produce her, get that Lennox golden throat over some new beats, new sounds. Damn...

James Derek dwyer---get real. It would be quite disconcerting if she were still making the exact same kind of music from 23 years ago! Times change and so has Annie Lennox. And indeed, so have (most) of the rest of us. Just because it's not synthed to death does not make it "middle of the road."

Personally, I like it, don't love it. But give me a thousand times an artist who chooses to follow his/her own path rather than following anything "cool" or "hip."

As much I adore Annie Lennox (for almost 25 years now), her voice and unique talent, I have to admit, with obvious sadness, that "Dark Road" is nothing but huge disappointment.
I know, I know... we all have been waiting much too long for her new album. But get real people! "Dark Road" is nothing else than "Loneliness, part 2". “Pavements Cracks, part 3”. Both, lyrically and, even more disappointingly, musically!!!
I know, I know… she went through hard time. Nothing new. But I really hoped that “Bare” was the closing door to those dark experiences. I hoped that eventually she can revive herself and us with her music. After all those sorrows…
And there she is again. Moaning, moaning, nothing intelligent like “Here Comes The rain Again”, witty like “Would I Lie To You”, or ironic like “Don’t Ask me Why”.
Don’t we have enough of our own sadness and darkness?
Don’t we have enough that the world’s gone crazy?
As much as I was awaiting her new album, “Dark Road” put me off totally.

Dark Road is innovative, unconventional, and sonically gorgeous just like Annie. The only thing disapppointing is how badly some people want to bash Annie, projecting their negativity in life on everybody that reads their sad comments.

This song exceeds already high expectations for me. Her voice is in top form and the lyrics and music take that powerful and emotive voice to an even higher level. Good job Annie!
