Listen to New Chemical Brothers Single
The Chemical Brothers' new single is slowly but surely growing on me. When I first heard Do It Again, I found it a disappointing effort that didn't promise much good for the duo's new album.
But after playing it a few times, I've found a basic appreciation for the song. Sure. It sounds nothing like their ground-breaking "Galvanize" and "Block Rockin' Beats, but there's something about that juvenile melody and popping groove that is rather catchy. It's like an itch that won't go away. The song has that same abrasive quality as Justin Timberlake's "Sexyback," but it lacks the coolness that Timberlake injected into the song.
The video for "Do It Again" is rather unusual. Director Michael Hausmann takes viewers to a remote Moroccan village similar to the one in the movie Babel. Two brothers find a cassette tape that fell from the sky and pop it into their boombox. "Do It Again" plays while the two rock their way through the village and get in all kinds of trouble.
A press release puts it into these lofty terms: "The dusty old village setting throws the struggle between vibrant youth and moribund traditionalism into sharp relief, but it’s a battle that the Chemical Brothers have been fighting – and winning – all over the globe." Well, mmm, there you go. The Chemical Brothers' new CD "We Are The Night" will hit stores in the U.S. on July 17.

You don't like it? Really?
I'm a huge Chemical Brothers fan, but this is the first time I heard it. I loved it immediately. Great new stuff.
