Arjan Interviews Mika

"In the world of reality television we have this notion that if you are someone who is put in the spotlight, irrelevant of what you do for a living, you're immediately deemed a public property. And because of that you're supposed to offer up your entire life on the plate and let people devour you like some cheap all-you-can-eat buffet. I'm not a salad bar!"

- Pop singer Mika tells Arjan about people's fascination with his sexuality.

You can read my entire interview with Mika on Bravo TV's OutZone. Mika and I met in June and talked about the global success of his single "Grace Kelly," growing up as an outsider, "the honesty" of his music, people's fascination with his private life and reports about death threats following his decision not to discuss his sexuality.

is there really enough interest in Mika to merit even a raised eyebrow at this stage - much less a death threat? Honestly - his "grace kelly" was cute for about a week, but his PR has been confused and now, just boring. Especially given that he's supposed to be a POP STAR and somewhat a vessel for fantasies - right? quickly becoming the 21st century MOR Jobraith - without the cult appeal.
