Video Premiere: Justice "D.A.N.C.E."
After Air, Daft Punk and Cassius, Justice is tipped as the next hot dance outfit from France to rule clubs with their infectious disco-house tunes. You might remember that the duo hit the international spotlight when they won the MTV Europe Video Music Award for Best Video and had a little incident with an intoxicated Kanye West on stage.
Justice are French electro duo Xavier de Rosnay and Gaspard Augé. The two met three years in Paris where Xavier was studying graphic design and Gaspard designed flyers. They decided to start making music together and one of their first concoctions ended up in the hands of Pedro Winter, the manager of Daft Punk and founder of Ed Banger Records.
Winter decided to release their remix of Simian' "Never Be Alone" on his label. The track was eventually given a commercial release in the U.K in the summer of 2006, under the title "We Are Your Friends" on Ten Records, a sub-label of Virgin Records. It was the video for that mix that was crowned Best Video by viewers of MTV Europe.
Since signing to Ed Banger, Justice has produced many remixes for artists like Britney Spears, Franz Ferdinand, Mystery Jets and Soulwax. They played Coachella last weekend, but I had to miss that gig unfortunately.
Their catchy new single "D.A.N.C.E" has all the makings of a huge club smash this summer. It is a bouncy, uber-cool little house gem that glows in the dark. Get out your old Nike kicks, skinny jeans and fluorescent graphic tee, and "get ready to ignite."
The single will appear on Justice's full-length debut "†" (not sure how to pronounce it) that will be out this summer
