Mark Ronson Update

If you have never heard of Mark Ronson, you might still be familiar with his work. Ronson is the man behind the recent success of Amy Winehouse and Lily Allen. Over the last few months, the DJ/producer has been working on his own artist album, titled "Versions," which  includes more of his contemporary take on '60s soul and R&B. He has released an EP of three new tracks on iTunes, including the single "Stop Me" and his amazing re-make of Coldplay's "God Put A Smile Upon Your Face."

Last week, Ronson also announced his involvement with the Hard Rock Cafe chain. He compiled the first of a series of CDs that will be sold at the chain and will benefit charity. Hard Rock Cafe partnered with Allido Records and music executive Rich Kleiman to release the series exclusively for their brand.

The first disc features 14 rock songs that were "hand selected" by Ronson. "This is an exciting project (. . .) because of Hard Rock's iconic stature as a brand and in Rock n' Roll culture," he said in a press statement. "These compilations will deliver a unique and definitive collection of 'modern' rock music for the new millennium."

Ronson picks for his compilation include: "Black Tambourine" by Beck, "I Like the Way" by Bodyrockers, "Everyday I Love You Less and Less" by Kaiser Chiefs, "Take Your Mama" by Scissor Sisters, "Black Betty" by Spiderbait, "Tropical Moonlight" by Domino and "Lit Up" by Buckcherry. The disc will be available on May 22.
