Watch The Killers Live at Abbey Road Studios
Last week, The Killers appeared on Channel 4's new music show Live from Abbey Road. This British television program features rare acoustic performances in the historic studios made famous by the Beatles. The Vegas foursome played a few of their most popular tracks including a gorgeous version of "When You Were Young," a mellow, piano-driven version of "Sam's Town" and a cover of Dire Straits' classic "Romeo & Juliet.
Brandon Flowers was reportedly ill when the group recorded these special tracks, which explains his raspy vocals that turned out to sound really great.
In the intro to "Romeo & Juliet," Flowers says that the song is "one of the best songs he has ever heard." He wonders if he can do the original any justice, but a reason for him to give it a try is to introduce younger Killers fans to the great work of the Dire Straits.
Brandon has nothing to worry about. Their cover of "Romeo & Juliet" is simply sublime. I'm hoping they will put it out as a (digital) b-side.

the performances were splendid! it's amazing how rocking songs like when you were young and sam's town could be stripped down like that and still sound so good! i would never have thought brandon was sick if you didn't mention it. :-)

I love that video. Are the killers going on tour at all?? I haven't heard anything.... I know my chemical romance started a 2nd leg of their tour a few days ago.

He sounds so honest when he sings it... it's incredible how his voice almost breaks in the chorus, without him being pretentious or something like that; it's simply the way he feels the lyrics and then sings them that way.

there was an mp3 available for download off of the music slut blog. you can try there or any fansites dedicated to the killers. i'm sure they have it there
