Free Download: Alice Smith "Woodstock"

Meet Alice Smith, one of the most talented singers to emerge in 2006. This Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter has a remarkable, four-octave vocal range that perfectly fits her infectious blend of soul, pop and and blues.

Growing up in both Washington D.C. and her grandmother's farm in Augusta, GA, Smith combines a heavy dose of urban grit with the warm soul vibe of the South. For the last eleven years, she lived in New York City to pursue a career in music.

Her debut album "For Lovers, Dreamers & Me" was released last year and invokes musical memories ranging from the young Diana Ross to the mature Billie Holiday. It is an accomplished record that deserves a lot more attention. Smith's is one of those rare artists who can solely rely on her raw talent as opposed to being dependent on Timabland-inspired big beat productions that are ruling the U.S. charts.

Listen to the wonderful and mellow track "Woodstock" that will start your Monday on a high note. If you want to know more about Alice Smith, you watch an EPK interview with this hot new talent on YouTube.) Many thanks to Worlds Fair Records for making this track available to Arjanwrites.com readers.)
