Dance Smash: Fedde Le Grand "Put Your Hands Up For Detroit"
Dutch DJ and producer Fedde Le Grand is having the time of his life. His "simple dance" tune "Put Your Hands Up For Detroit" reached the number one of the singles chart in the U.K. on Sunday, and the song is also storming up the charts in the Netherlands. In an interview with Dutch newspaper AD, he said today that he "never expected that radio would be interesting in playing the song."
The track is an incredibly bouncy tune with a massive electronic riff in the vein of Mylo and Linus Love (yet a little more house-oriented). The saucy video set in a male cloning factory for the song takes cues from Eric Prydz' 2004 smash hit "Call On Me" with its scantily dressed dancers
Fedde Le Grand built fame in The Netherlands over the last few years, playing the popular gay dance club Dans Salon in the southern town of Eindhoven. Dance promoters heard about this emerging new talent and booked him for major club nights all over Europe. "Put Your Hands Up For Detroit" was first released on indie dance label Flamingo Records and is now available on CR2. If you like Fedde's electro-house, head to his web site to download some tracks ft. Mc Gee and DJ sets (not available right now).

His set downloads seem to be on the blink :( I guess they might be on iTunes too?

It sure is a great hit.
A couple of years ago, I used to visit the DansSalon every sunday, but somehow Fedde Le Grand's DJ-sets never did it for me (unlike those of Benjamin and Marco V, which sure did). But I'm glad to see that all three DJs have built fame over the years.

It's not storming the Dutch charts anymore, but it was a few months ago...
