Stream Linus Loves "Stage Invader"
It is has finally landed. Mylo's best mate and business partner Linus Loves has released his long-awaited solo debut "Stage Invader." Linus and I corresponded briefly during Mylo's illness this winter and ever since he told me what he was working on I've been waiting to get my hands on this disc. Together Mylo and Linus established dance label Breastfed that first released Mylo's hugely popular "Destroy Rock & Roll."
"Stage Invader" is in many ways reminiscent of "Destroy Rock & Roll" with its punchy kickbeats, '80s pop samples and breezy melodies. But at first listen Linus takes the Breastfed sound to a new level serving up a more diverse collection of songs. From the soulful textures on "The Love" to the propulsive electro-disco on "One More Chance" (featuring the vocals of Dan Whitford of Cut Copy), and from the fresh euro pop of "The Terrace" to infectious "VH1" that compares to Mylo's bedroom recordings with its quirky, pop stylings. A very special track is "The Waterfall," which is based on 10CC's "The Waterfall" played at 45RPM (as Terry reports here).
There are no plans at this time to release the album outside of Europe, but thanks to Amazon and 7Digital you can easily get it stateside. If you look for something to celebrate the summer of 2006, get Linus Loves' "Stage Invader." You will love yourself for it. This album is one of my favorite dance and pop records of the year so far.

VH1 is nearly identicdal to the remix Lisun Loves did for Husky Rescue on the New Light Of Tomorrow remix, and The Terrace is just the backing track from his own Stand Back feat. Sam Obernik with a bit more oomph. Not that it's a bad thing, but I have to wonder how this came about. If you get an interview with him ever again, maybe ask him?

I´ve just listened to One more Chance, it is the Pet shop boys´ melody on the lyrics?

Love this album! More fun than Mylo's. It is indeed the Pet Shop Boys song you can hear on that track.

yes, easily one of my favorite pop-dance albums of the year... actually enjoying it much more than mylo's album.
"waterfall" is such a cute track. reminds me of that flatpack song. anyway, the origial source has been driving me crazy... thanks for that.
i'm confused though: you write as linus loves is a person... isn't it a duo?

Just grabbed it on iTunes Music Store, FYI...

Hmmm..
Well I have to say, of all the tracks on the Linus Loves album, Waterfall was the one that grabbed me, and I thought the rest was pretty ordinary. Now I know why!
I knew there was something wrong with it, but I thought it was a C&W sample speeded up or something.
I never would have picked it as 10CC. Now I know, I prefer the original.
How very John Peel!
