Fall Charts Revamp

Snipshot_183han2vu0

It appears that pop radio is going to sound a little different this fall with new album releases by Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, Janet Jackson and Jessica Simpson. Let's also not forget a potent new Nelly Furtado single. That means out with James Blunt, Natasha Bedingfield, Fall Out Boy and the Pussycat Dolls.

A few big questions remain. Will Scissor Sisters be able to cut into the mainstream pop charts in the United States with their '70s inspired glittery pop rock on "Ta Da" that is expected to hit stores in September? I think it is possible, but as usual their label needs to make them a priority.

The same can be asked about the Killers' yet-untitled new album that is also expected in September, and will supposedly serve up a grander sound. Rumors indicate that the group's new single is titled "Bling." It is a clever move by the Las Vegas foursome to disguise the song with a title that makes it appear like an urban track and will surely be noticed by mainstream radio programmers who are obsessed with hip hop and rap.

And by the way. What happened to Pink? Did her second single after that first gimmick song just fizzle or what?

I can't believe you didn't mention the biggest star coming back in the fall--Beyonce! Ms. Knowles has a CD coming out in September and her new single is already on fire. After her CD release she will star in the movie "Dreamgirls" and this will turn out to be her year. She is a diva in the making.

And yes what happened to Pink? I totally agree with you that her first single was a gimmick. I wasn't really feeling her CD at all anyways.

Too bad re Pink - "Who Knew" is a beautiful song. The video wasn't all that great.

Beyonce. The song is not too bad without Jay Z, but she reallllly screeches on parts of it. She is already a diva though, right? Baby legend?

Who could have predicted the Janet single would be so wan and the Jessica S single would be so...poptastic?!

Billboard has the new Pink single, "Who Knew," reviewed just this week, so perhaps it is just now being (re)worked to radio and retail?

I love this band and I am a little worried about how "mainstream" their sound is going to be that i am not going to like it. I also concerned about the first single with "Elton John" - now that really scares me!!

Yes, do not forget the Beyonce single. It's looking v. strong at this point. Scissor Sisters will not be a chart factor in North America, unfortunately, but I still love them.
