Nelly Furtado in GENRE
Jump to GENRE Magazine's web site to read my recent interview with Nelly Furtado. It was great to catch up with the singer again while she was preparing her European tour. She's always so relaxed, straight up and just babbles away. The singer talked about her new album "Loose," gay fans, homophobia in hip hop, her relationship with Timbaland and having her own float during Toronto's gay pride parade. "We'd all be drinking and dancing [on the Nelly Furtado float], just having a good time. But we need something a little cheesy, of course, like biodegradable confetti and party hats," she laughed.
The singer also admitted her attraction to women in the past.
Furtado fully expects that queer fans will appreciate her new album. "I hope gays don't mind the hip-hop sound. I don't think they will, because the same individuality is there," she says. "And...I will be dancing a lot!"

She needs to release "Maneater" as a single really soon. I love that song's attitude and fierceness. I predict that "Maneater" will be this summer's "Hollaback Girl". BTW I also predicted the success of "Hollaback Girl" when Gwen's CD was released.

Maneater is genius! i can´t get it out of my head!
The video, here in Argentina, is getting heavy rotation on Mtv and Much Music.

being an intern at the karpel group, which markets to the gay/lesbian community, nelly shouldn't be worrying about us gays not liking her hiphop sound. we're sending out all these promotions to all the main gay places in nyc. we're eating it up. everyone loves it.
