Free Download: Lillix "Sweet Temptation"
Canadian girl rockers Lillix
are returning next months with their sophomore album "Inside The
Hollow" on Maverick Records. The sound on this new record has matured
quite a bit compared to their 2003 teen pop rock debut "Falling Uphill"
with the help of soundboard veterans Jeff Saltzman (The Killers) and
James Michael (Motley Crue). Lillix were hoping that the producer of The Killers' multi-platinum smash "Hot Fuss" would take a chance on
them. "We sort of thought [Saltzman] would brush us off as not being
'hip' enough, but he really liked what he heard and said yes to the
gig," says Lillix bass player Louise Burns in a press statement.
Channeling popular '80s girl groups like The Go-Go's and The Bangles, "Sweet Temptation" is a good indication of the infectious, radio-friendly rock fare that Lillix presents on "Inside The Hollow." In fact, Lillix can easily fill the void that is left behind by fellow Canadian Avril Lavigne.
"['Sweet Temptation'] is about finding truth and happiness or whatever you want to call the positive inside the dullness of what today's world can bring," explains Burns. "It's ultimately positive and hopefully encouraging, about letting go over pretensions and expectations and just being yourself." Download "Sweet Temptation" by Lillix [mp3]. This isn't bad at all! I never really liked Lillix's earlier stuff. This really does have an '80s vibe to it.

LILLIX has really matured in their music. This song proves it. Their last album was good, and I can still listen to every song beginning to end, but this one is going to totally blow you away when it hit stores. On their Myspace, they have two other bound-to-be hits. "Blackout" and "Little Things". I'd suggest everyone to check them out because you won't be sorry with what you find! I know I'm not and I've been waiting three whole years for them to come back. They're stronger than ever especially with Alicia, who can really play those drums! :) Be on the watch for their music video too. It looks like it's going to be awesome after seeing the pictures.

I'm super shocked by this, seeing as the stuff I heard from them years ago was overly poppy and bad (IMO) but this is effing AWESOME! The chorus shout-along is a bit weird sounding I think but wow, the instruementals are really great!

I wasn't too excited about a new Lillix album seeing as I only liked "tomorrow" on their 2003 debut. The rest of the album seemed extremely poppy and cliche'. This single however shows that they have done some growing up and with the addition of the new drummer, whose drumming seems to be much better than the old one's, this song may actually break into the top 40. They will need some exposure however to the American listeners and so far there doesn't seem to be any effort to promote here, only in Canada and Japan so far...

I agree, I hated the whole 'teen pop punk, girls rock' stuff that I was getting before, but the artistic video and the new music have won me over

Is it just me or does "Sweet Temptation" have a synth backing very reminiscent of Blondie - e.g. Atomic (not that that's a bad thing of course!)?
Here in the UK, Lillix are completely unknown and yet I think they are better than their somewhat-shouty compatriot Avril.
BTW, There was a ridiculous delay between the US/Canadian and UK releases of "Falling Uphill" and I suspect the same is going to be true of "Inside the Hollow", even if it's on a major label like Maverick.
This new track is quite a punchy effort and it looks like they've vamped up in the styling department if the promo video for it (see Youtube) is anything to go by. Now if only I could find the album *somewhere* in the UK without having to pay crazy import prices!
