Stream New Pet Shop Boys Single "I'm With Stupid"

Click here to listen to an audio link from Sveriges Radio. About 19 minutes into the broadcast you can listen to Pet Shop Boys' brand-new single "I'm With Stupid" from their forthcoming new album "Fundamental." The group earlier explained that the song is inspired by the relationship between Tony Blair and George Bush. Full of his graceful wit, Neil Tennant sings, "Call you every day/ Fly across the ocean/ Just to let you get your way/ No one understands me/ Where I'm coming from/ Why would I be with someone/ Who's obviously so dumb?"

The song also has a gay theme with the Pet Shop Boys describing the relationship between the two leaders in a more intimate way, "I have to ask myself like any lover might/ Have you made a fool of me?/ Are you not Mr Right?.../ Is stupid really stupid or are you really smart?/ That's how you stole my heart." Read all the lyrics here. Listen to it on Sveriges Radio now. It's good. Really good. (Thanks to Thomas for the heads up!) [source]

good morning arjan....
amusing.....finding the analogy between thethe's infected and a current relational affairs of state to by synonomous...yet, somehow grabbing at "popotes" that works....wonder how the rest of the album is -- heard it?? the last thing, i really kinda enjoyed was "nightlife" .... wegman on spin cycle .... subsequent "home and dry" -- have loved their music in all of its permutations, evolution, shifting peaks....a listen would be great -- yet, wonder about lyrical notation / another frame of reference and referees -- entirely.

ciao

I don't understand!

Anyway, the song really is like an homage to their 1990 era. It's so very Trevor Hornish with all the bombast. At first I thought it was dull, but it starts to seep in after a few listens. I tend not to favor choruses that are just chants, but I like this.

Well I'd love to hear it but have no idea how to- my pc doesn't recognise the file format. Why the f**k isn't it an mp3 file

Oh no - a PSB song I am unsure about - not that impressed to be honest... :(

If you think Infected still packs a punch due to our current state of affairs, check out the lyrics to Armageddon Days Are Here Again. Never before has that song been so relevant and if it had been released today they'd be Dixie Chicked right out of the country.

FABULOUS! A new PSB track with an anti-Dubya message! As always, Neil's vocals are infectious, and the clever double entendre is classic PSB - at first glance it's pop with a political tint, catch the light a different way and it's about any couple with a not-so-bright member (Nick & Jessica, anyone?).

Can't wait to hear the rest of the album! Until then, I'll be blasting this track on "repeat" in my apartment here deep in the dark Republican heart of Texas!

The title is a funny one as well as the lyrics. Neil's voice is not too high either making it easier to understand. My only negative comment is that I don't hear enough Chris, but more drum/bang sounds from some sampler from K-Mart.
Boys, keep up the work!

Did someone changed the link? 19 mins in the broadcast and I don't hear a PSB tune. Driving me nuts!

There isn't a new Pet Shop Boys song 19 minutes in. Unless 19 minutes is different that 19 minutes in the US :)

Go to PSB home page to hear it:

Into 5 mins 24 secs, you will hear Fugitive - Richard X Extended Remix.

Not a bad remix though.

Whilst stock last!
