Video Premiere: Richard Ashcroft "Break The Night With Color"

The video for Richard Ashcroft's long awaited new single "Break The Night With Color" has finally been released. The single will hit stores in the U.K. on January 9, 2006 and is followed by his third solo album "Keys To The World" on January 23.  After a three year break, Ashcroft first popped back up in London this summer when he performed with Coldplay during Live8.

In an interview with Xfm Online, Ashcroft spoke candidly about his new work. "It's sounding shit hot. I'm pleased with it," he said. "It's got a good mix to it. There's some good raw rock 'n roll on it, some moments of beauty and lushness, but there're some tracks that are pretty raw, pretty heavy (. . .) That's what I wanna be, a great English songwriter. I don't want to be anything else, I realise that now. That's my job, that's my duty, to write tunes, not to fuck around."

"Break The Night With Color" is a middle of the road pop rock ballad with lush instrumentation and Ashcroft's arresting, raw vocals. This has hit written all over it. [source, source]
