Free Download: Casey Stratton "Wild Soul"
Download the exclusive new track "Wild Soul" from singer/songwriter Casey Stratton. The song is the orchestral version of the original that will appear on
Stratton's upcoming new album "Divide" that is available from pre-order
at CDBaby.com. After
putting out a Christmas album last year, this is the the crooner's
full-length, independently released record after partying ways with Sony
Music.
"Wild Soul" is a signature Stratton ballad with atmospheric piano chords, mesmerizing vocals and touching lyrics. Casey tells Arjan that "Wild Soul" is about dealing with the aftermath of a break-up. "It is about coming to terms with the fact that the person you have made a life with is never going to be able to handle a true commitment," he says. "That feeling of sadness that hits when you have to go through the motions of detangling your life from what "our life" was and be alone again. Packing their things, rearranging the furniture, taking some pillows off the bed - all those things you do to try to erase the memories. I have always found that to be a major and painful transition."
But "Wild Soul" is not only about the painful aspects of a break-up.
Stratton emphasizes that a ending a relationship can be empowering in some ways as
well. "For me
the most telling line is 'I can't change what's become me to get back
nothing.' It's like you know you could jump through a million hoops and
change this person you've become in your life, but you know that even
if you do that the other person in the relationship is not going to do
any work on their side. Once you know that it's over," Stratton says.
