VMA Bits: Nelly Furtado "Loose"
I think Nelly Furtado's "I'm Like A Bird" is one of
the best pop songs written in the last few years. Unfortunately, the
Canadian singer's most recent album "Folklore" was a bit of a let down
with a lack of her unique spunkiness (expect from the brilliant "Explode").
Furtado made a surprise appearance at the VMA White Carpet last week. The Canadian songstress was doing some early promotions for her upcoming new album "Loose." "The album is coming out in November, and I can't wait for it to share it with everybody," Furtado told Arjan. She admitted that she was disappointed with the sales of "Folklore" in the U.S. "The new record is going to be a lot faster. I think that is what people expect from me."

I, too, loved "Folklore."
I also agree with you, xolondon. I'm much more interested by what an artist would really rather convey than by what he or she thinks is exprected.

Ii loved Folklore, it was 10 times better than her debut, which was also top-notch. She should take a leaf out of Bjork's book and not conform to what people expect from her. Still, I hope the music on this new album can still be amazing and popular at the same time.

Folklore truly is one of the best albums I have ever heard; so emotional, so unique. I am looking forward to "loose" but I am nervous that she is going to try to please people more this time around, instead of making the music she wants to.

I was really sad that Nelly Furtado's CD didn't sell well here when Britney Spears sold over a million. That just doesn't make sense to me. I got "Folklore" on a whim and no I'm glad I did. It's so pretty and it just seems to flow. I am definitely going to buy her new album.
I agree with the people who think she shouldn't change how she feels to sell records. You have to start out kind of slow and build your fan base up while still doing what you love. That to me is what is happening to Bjork. I never really knew much about her but she has started to get more and more popular because of her fans and her persistence to do what she wants to do, not what others expect of her.
But, we'll have to see.

Pero dicen que en este disoc a cambiado el estilo y he escuchado la canión Prosmiscuouos Girl y no m gusta mucho que digamos pero weno... En cambio Maneater y No hay igual si me gustan!! Espero que su disco esté muy bien!! Y ha esperar que sea 20 de Juniooo !!!

I got to here the album recently and it is extremly good it has the five best songs from both her albums molded together and a couple of new one thrown in
