Pet Shop Boys New Albums Details
Pet Shop Boys are currently working on two new album productions. First, the duo will be releasing the soundtrack to "Battleship Potemkin," a 1925 silent Russian movie about a mutiny aboard a Russian battleship amidst unbearable conditions. They performed the score live at Trafalgar Square in London last September together with the Dresdner Sinfoniker. The disc will be released in the U.K. in September. No U.S. release has been set.
Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe are also working on songs for their own artist album together with producer Trever Horn. The PSB web site describes the songs as "'more electro-pop' than the first 'epic' five Horn has produced [for the album]. The Diane Warren composition, 'Numb,' originally recorded for the 'PopArt' compilation and produced by Trevor Horn, will also be featured on the new album to be released in Spring, 2006."

I think the idea of them recording other people's compositions is interesting. I would not want a whole record of it, but if it brings something fresh, then great!

Not to get too nit-picky, but the movie is named "BattleSHIP Potemkin". Can't wait to hear how the Pet Shop Boys do the soundtrack, though.

I just hope it is better than RELEASE as I didn't think it was very good. That's just my 2 cents, though.

In my opinion 'Release'was a fantastic album. A very organic Behaviour you could say. Although released during the electro peak of 2002/03, the album played well alongside sissorsisters, among others. Fans were let down by Behaviour as being to mellow so Very followed respectfully. Are fans let down by Release as well? Are we expecting Very part 2? I was thrilled by the guest appearance of Johnny Marr on Release, and now place Release as the third best PSB album. Release came to me when I needed an album to sing along to and relate to. Electoclashes neo nonsense whimsical wit batterings were at best exhausting after too many long listens. As well Neil has put together gorgeous material for his side of Back to Mine. Sit in the tub and travel into Neilland...sublime...
Can't wait for the new album, it goes up there with Goldfrapp Supernature.

I have to say that I personally have been hoping for a "Very"-esque album, i.e., fun, upbeat dance pop.
I'm one of those fans who thought "Behaviour," at the time (I was only 16) was too moody... "Very" was a welcome album, since a lot of people were under the impression they were retiring after "Discography."
"Bilingual," "Nightlife" and "Release" all had their moments, but none of them held up in my opinion as great whole albums, like "Very."
I actually think the best stuff they've done in ten years has been the two singles off "Pop Art" and "Disco 3."
Looking forward to the new stuff.

I heard a sneak preview of this CD and it sounds like a soundtrack-type of CD... lots of orchestral tracks, I only heard 1 vocal song on the whole CD. It is an awesome ballad though... seems to be a reflection of the Iraq war... there is the line "why did we go to war...?"... Beautiful song....

I always like to listen to September Symphony when I am drilling for oil in my friends backside. It soothes the pain of lack of lube.

That is super true, I love to bury it deep in the buns but a lack of lube is very painfull, sometimes I get these fish scale looking things on my prong!

I wish I was in the Iraq war, I know it's got to be a turn on to see the sweaty guys running around, jumping in and out of their foxholes! oooh just gives me the shivers

Hmmmm, good idea. I think I would just lay there and let it run it's course if you know what I mean. I just love to think of how hot it would be and how deep they could go in my foxhole!

PET SHOP BOYS are simply the best, you can hear grumbles about "Release" not being up to standard! that's nonsense. Every track on every album is a winner in it's own way. They touch the soul & mind in a way no other group possibly can, we all have our favourites, but there is not one track that can be called a dudd. Perhaps i sound a little over the top, but i could not imagine my life without their music. From sensational tracks like liberation & miracles to october symphony & samurai. They make my day.
