Bananarama Makes Comeback

Bananajpg

Remember that infectious '80s tune "Venus"? Most people will remember the song, but not the gals who sang it. It was done by British girl band Bananarama who took the Shocking Blue cover to the top of the charts around the world. Bananarama returns on July 25 with the brand-new single "Move In My Direction" that was co-written and produced by Mute 8, home of hits to the likes of Britney, and mixed by UK popmeister Jeremy Wheatley of Sugababes fame. This marks the group's first domestic U.K. release since 1993. Manchester Online reviewed the single and wrote, "It's a naggingly, hypnotically addictive collision of Kylie's 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head' and the Halliwell Monster's 'Ride It.'" Also, look out for the Marc Almond remix of "Venus" that is included on the CD single.

Siobahn Fahey was the third member. She left to form Shakespeare's Sister with Marcella Detroit, and has recently released 2 singles in the UK, 'Bitter Pill' and 'Pulsatron' under her own name. She's due to release a solo album soon.

Bananarama did not just stop recording after Ultra Violet, they recorded several singles used in movies and TV shows, but in 2001 they release EXOTICA for a french record label, that included a few remixes of their own songs, overall, EXOTICA produced three songs worthy of listening to, IF, Boom and Careless Whispers of which a video was cut. Their latest CD DRAMA was recorded in 2005 and released in the UK and in certain parts of Europe and Asia with great reviews and chart making songs like Move in my direction and Look on the Floor. This CD was then released in the US in 2006 allowing both songs to enter the Billboard charts for dance category at #14 and ending at #2 for Move in my direction and #22 and ending in #4 for Look on the floor. Presently they have recorded several songs for an EP that is scheduled to be release soon, no dates available, and hopefully more songs will be recorded to allow for another CD to be release. Record company was not disclosed we are asuming that is still A&G as before. All this information comes from sources in London as well as the Website: Bananarama.co.UK
