LIVE8 Live

Arjanwrites_live8live_1

Criticism aside, LIVE8 is shaping up to be a pretty incredible event for all the right reasons.  The line up includes Madonna, Coldplay, Mariah Carey, Scissor Sisters, Keane, The Cure, The Killers and over 140 others who will be performing in five different cities in Europe and the U.S. on July 2.

What I like most about the event is that is not set up as a charity event. All concerts are free. It is about creating mindshare and the opportunity to educate people about world poverty abroad and at at home. I truly believe that if we can beat poverty, we can also beat starvation, social injustice and get a firm grip on the AIDS epidemic.

Check out the new LIVE8 website for information about the concert cities and how to get tickets. Also, read other bloggers who are discussing the event.

Live 8 will be a great concert, but it will do fuck-all for the world's problems.

How can you cure poverty and hunger, anyway? You might as well try to cure death or fashion disasters. They are an inevitable part of human existance. The best we can do is alleviate them somewhat.

Don't mean to take it out on you, just annoyed that people think going to see Madonna in concert is actually an act of social justice.

Poverty and hunger is caused by lack of funds. No MONEY means poor living conditions and no food. The point of the concert is to raise awareness of the problem, and put tremendous presure on the G8 summit leaders to pledge MONEY to Africa to help end poverty and hunger.

i think live8 is for an amazing cause and i hope there is enough money raised to make a big difference to the situation in africa there is an amazing play list ie. ROBBIE WILLIAMS!!! which makes it so much better
but overall well done to everyone who is helping and also to the people who bought tickets
and remember every little bit extra makes the difference
