Junior Vasquez Departs from Discotheque

Arjanwrites_junior_1

Junior Vasquez' manager Jerome Farley announced late last night that Junior Vasquez has officially resigned from his weekly residency at Discotheque in New York. A formal press release did not give any reason for his sudden departure.

In January, the granddaddy of house music left Sound Factory to pursue other interests. Rumors have been flaring ever since that Vasquez has lost touch with his audience. Others argue that the DJ is tired of the ever-changing Manhattan club scene and has more interest in producing up-and-coming artists (such as Jason Walker).

Vasquez spoke with arjanwrites.com about his frustations in a previous interview.

Vasquez will continue to play at special events on a bimonthly basis. Arena Classics scheduled to take place this Friday, October 22nd has been postponed until further notice, and Masquerade on Friday, October 29th has been canceled. His management will confirm venues and dates for Arena Classics, 10,000 Queens Under The Sea, The Red Party and other special party events by the end of October on his web site.

Junyear's Eve at Roxy on December 31st will continue as planned. Vasquez will be joined by American Idol's Tamyra Gray at this eighteen hour dance party. Additionally, he is confirmed to make two special guest appearances, including a benefit for GLAAD on Sunday, November 4th and an AIDS Dance-a-Thon at the Jacob Javits Center on Saturday, December 11th.
